Cristian Maccagno is a partner at the Benessia-Jorio Firm (formerly the founder of the Benessia-Maccagno Firm).
Her work focuses on civil law, specifically regarding commercial and business law in its various aspects.
She has gained extensive experience in the area of complex structures, from corporate groups with publicly traded capital to closely held economies and issues related to ownership transitions, including succession matters.
She has dealt with the management and control of corporate crises, including those of an international scope, both during the admission phase to insolvency proceedings and in subsequent management.
She was a member of the Expert Group established by the European Commission for the preparation of guidelines on insolvency legislation at the supranational level and has participated in national study committees on the regulation of insolvency for large enterprises.
She regularly practices as a lawyer before national jurisdictions and, in collaboration with local counsel, also abroad. She is active in arbitration proceedings both as a defender and as an arbitrator.
An expert in issues related to access to and the practice of the legal profession, she coordinated the drafting of the "Torino Charter" on the role of the lawyer, which was adopted by the International Association of Lawyers (UIA) during the World Congress in 2001.
